Excerpt from the book:

I was on the fringes of the Kyzyl Kum desert, men with fur hats,
robes, and daggers prominently displayed thronged around us.
The smelly smoke of burning lamb fat from the many greasy
kebabs sticks being grilled, hung in the air like the bad smog of
Indonesia. The discordant tones of different Asiatic languages
struck my ears in so indiscernible a manner that I could not tell
whether they were engaged in arguments or intense bargaining.

I felt like we had gone back in time to some Moslem dream of a
desert trade city. In reality that is exactly what Bukhara had been.
For centuries it was the halfway point on the Old Silk Road. Marco
Polo had been here and so had many other renowned explorers.

The local Islamic rulers known as Emirs became famous for their
arbitrary and exceedingly cruel whims. The slightest provocation of
the Emir would result in the unfortunate person being thrown into
the local combination cesspool/dungeon famous for its menagerie
of reptiles and spiders. This happened to two British officers who
came offering treaty with England. If you weren't Moslem upon
entering the city you became one or died. The stalwart Englishmen
refused the choice, were imprisoned, and then killed. There still
remains to this day the very tall tower in the center of the city from
which the condemned were flung to their deaths on the pavement
below.

                       Back Cover of Book

Our entire civilization has become inundated with questions by the
global war against Islamic Fundamentalism as a result of the heinous
attack on September 11th in New York City. Much like the strike
against Pearl Harbor in 1941 we were caught unprepared and
uninformed in our conflict with an Oriental religion and culture.
In October of 2001 Larry Garza was asked by his congressman to
prepare a paper for the Foreign Relations Committee and the
President. He was asked to clearly define the answer to the question,
Is Islam a religion of peace or war? How he was qualified to answer
that question is the amazing story of his life.

Larry Garza vividly recounts his odyssey of 2500 miles across China
on the Old Silk Road, the release From the Iranian Revolutionary
Guard in Iran, the escape from the mob in Uzbekistan,
his serendipitous find of King Solomon's city of Tadmore in Syria
and other escapades as well. Without inciting hate or prejudice,
he systematically presents the historical evidence that exposes
the deception of Islam, its groundless assumptions, and bizarre,
violent practices of its founder Mohammed. He dynamically
commands the reader's attention with his references to archaeology,
as well as quotations of Islamic literature and great scientists to
corroborate his viewpoint

The non-fiction, historical, narrative, The Destruction of the Veil of
Islam is a riveting and inspiring, adventure that informs the reader
through historical fact. It explains in a thrilling personal account what
Islam is and how it originated. This illuminative book will slake the
thirst of many readers in the their quest for an informative and rational
answer to the enigma of Islamic violence.
