Roads less traveled......

It has been my good fortune to carry the message of Jesus Christ across the continent of Asia. There are few places I
have not been on this ancient and exotic continent traversing the greatest mountains and deserts of the globe. Novel
and astonishing cities, races, and cultures became an everyday experience as I fought to evangelize the people in
countries like Burma, Mongolia, Laos, Kyrgyzstan, Ceylon, and India.

Fulfilling this ministry I have used traditional and non-traditional methods.
Early on I decided to strategically target the least evangelized nations of
the world. Only those with a 1% or less Christian population received my
highest priority. Under these type of conditions the stereotypical church
outreach or invitation to the Christmas play is not applicable, considering
there is no local church! If there is a church as in a Moslem nation, to stage
a public meeting is to be killed. Among the more peaceable Buddhists and
Hindus it is possible to stage public meetings. However in the more difficult
physical and spiritual locations I have resorted to personal evangelism.
This usually involved hiring a jeep and traveling the isolated areas making
friends of the local populace. I would then distribute Christian literature
and videos.

I am a preacher and I have preached to thousands in person and to millions by T.V. by public oratory. However what I
call pioneering by jeep became one of my favorite pursuits and one of the most satisfying experiences of my life. My
routes of travel were derived from the great explorers of the Asian continent. I studied the lives and routes of great
adventurers like Sir Aurel Stein, Sir Francis Younghusbandman, General Charles Gordon, Sir Francis Richard Burton,
Nicholas Prehalvsky, Sven Hedin and other explorers.

This type of evangelism thrust me into a great adventurous lifestyle unanticipated when I responded to the missionary
call in 1986. God blessed with journeys of faith in crossing 4,000 kilometers across China, 2,400 kilometers across
Turkey, 1,800 kilometers across Iran, 3000 kilometers across Kyrgyzstan, crossing the great mountain passes of the
Himalaya, the Hindu Kush, the Pamir, the Karakorum, Kun Lun, the Zagros, and others.
